Subject: | December – Made in PA Month in Pennsylvania |
In the near future, I will introduce a resolution declaring December as “Made in PA Month” in Pennsylvania. It would encourage Pennsylvanians to purchase Pennsylvania-made products when shopping this holiday season. From K’NEX toy building sets to Channel Lock tools to Pyrex glassware for cooking, Pennsylvanians may be surprised by the wide array of products made in this state. In fact, over $70 billion worth of products are made in Pennsylvania every year by about 570,000 of our residents. Millions more Pennsylvanians move, store, ship, and sell these products. Buying Pennsylvania-made products is an easy way to support Pennsylvania jobs and grow new jobs, as well. I am introducing this resolution to encourage Pennsylvanians to remember our Pennsylvania companies – and their family, friends, and neighbors who work for them – by making an effort to seek out Pennsylvania-made products for their holiday purchases. I am also working with a bi-partisan group to pass legislation – House Bill 180 – to create a Made in PA branding program to make it easier for Pennsylvanians to find these products. Please join me in this important initiative by sponsoring this resolution and promoting December as “Made in PA” month. Previous co-sponsors: READSHAW, BARBIN, BIZZARRO, V.
