Subject: | Resolution honoring the 100th Anniversary of the Mt. Lebanon Fire Department |
In the near future, I intend to introduce a resolution that marks the 100th anniversary of the Mt. Lebanon Fire Department (MLFD), which originally formed as a volunteer fire department on June 1, 1918. The MLFD has become a premier provider of fire and emergency services, consisting of 17 full-time staff and approximately 50 volunteers. It is one of only two fire departments in Pennsylvania that is currently accredited by the Commission on Fire Accreditation International, which affirms the department’s high standards and best management practices. In addition, the MLFD continues to be one of approximately 200 fire departments nationally to have obtained a Class 1 Insurance Services Office (ISO) Public Protection Classification. Responding to an average of 2,000 calls for help a year, the MLFD is extremely well-respected for its services both in and outside of Mt. Lebanon. This resolution honors the men and women who built the MLFD, who continue to serve, and honors the Mt. Lebanon community as a whole for their steadfast support of developing and maintaining such a high level fire department over the past 100 years. Please join with me in recognizing this important milestone for the Mt. Lebanon Fire Department. |
