Subject: | Designating October 2018 as “American Pharmacists and Pharmacy Month” |
In the near future, I will be introducing a resolution designating the month of October 2018 as “American Pharmacists and Pharmacy Month” in Pennsylvania. Pharmacists are the most knowledgeable health care professionals in regards to medications and their uses. The extensive training they receive during their education provides them with the awareness they need to recognize possible harmful drug interactions or allergies to certain medications, as well as potential side effects that their patients may experience. There are currently 23,620 licensed pharmacists practicing in a multitude of settings throughout Pennsylvania which include hospitals, community pharmacies and drug stores, and the pharmaceutical industry. As the development of medicine continues to expand, pharmacists are increasingly vital to ensuring the safety and good health of patients. Please join me in co-sponsoring this resolution recognizing the contributions that pharmacists make to the health care field in Pennsylvania and throughout the nation. |
