Subject: | Polycystic Kidney Disease Awareness Month - September 2018 |
Polycystic Kidney Disease is a genetic disease that is passed from an infected parent to child and causes uncontrolled growth of cysts in the kidneys. It affects all racial and ethnic groups equally and occurs equally in men and women. Approximately 600,000 people in the United States have Polycystic Kidney Disease and it is the fourth leading cause of kidney failure. My mother-in-law recently passed away however, she dealt with PKD most of her life. As a result of PKD she experienced a kidney transplant which was successful for over 18 years. Please join me in recognizing September 2018 as Polycystic Kidney Disease Awareness Month in Pennsylvania. |
