Subject: | 1918 Pandemic Remembrance Month |
In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution designating October 2018 as “1918 Influenza Pandemic Remembrance Month” in Pennsylvania. The Influenza Pandemic of 1918 is recognized as one of the most devastating pandemics in human history with an estimated 50 million deaths worldwide. Estimates show that approximately 500 million people, one-third of the world’s population, became infected with influenza during this time. In the United States, more than 675,000 are estimated to have died, with 50,000 of those being Pennsylvanians. Please join me in commemorating the 100th anniversary of the 1918 influenza pandemic. Thank you. |
