Subject: | Honoring Senator John McCain - Designating August 25th a day of State Rememberance |
A graduate of the Naval Academy, Vietnam War Prisoner, Congressman and Senator, John McCain was a true American hero. Senator McCain was known for working across party lines, opposing torture, defending human rights, disavowing political divisiveness, and reforming campaign finance laws. Even though his many runs for President were unsuccessful, he exuded honor and dignity. McCain was the prototypical American; a patriotic war hero dedicated to the idea of American freedom. Therefore, I am introducing a resolution to make August 25th a day of state remembrance of the courage, honor, patriotism and citizenship exemplified by Senator John McCain. On August 25th, 2019 and every year thereafter on that date, flags shall be flown at half-mast in his honor. Please join me in honoring Senator John McCain and his indelible legacy. After signing on as a co-sponsor, please let my office know if you are currently in the military or a veteran. |
