Subject: | Designating the month of April 2020 as "Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month" in Pennsylvania |
Animal welfare in the United States changed forever in 1952 when the Humane Society of the United States was founded by animal rights activists with the expressed purpose of advocating for the humane treatment of animals on the national level. Today, the Humane Society oversees the direct care of thousands of animals annually. Furthermore, the Humane Society has fought for landmark anti-cruelty laws and maintains efforts to continuously improve the state of animal rights in America. Through the hard work of its volunteers and affiliated organizations, the Humane Society’s mission to stem the neglect, abuse, and mistreatment of animals reaches all corners of the United States. I will be introducing a resolution designating the month of April 2020 as "Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month" in Pennsylvania. As part of "Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month”, animal lovers are encouraged to volunteer their time and resources at one of the hundreds of local animal shelters that call Pennsylvania home. I hope you will join me in showing your support for this seminal organization and its cause by co-sponsoring this resolution. |
