Subject: | Designating March 2020 as American Red Cross Month |
The American Red Cross is well known for its extensive philanthropic history and assisting our friends and neighbors in their most desperate times of need. They provide shelter to those affected by natural disasters, host blood drives and offer critical training that save countless lives. Last year in Pennsylvania, over 6,500 volunteers supported the mission of the American Red Cross. These volunteers helped 3,800 families affected by home fires and other disasters throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania by providing food, housing and recovery support. The Red Cross continues to work with its partners to prevent fire-related tragedies through its national Home Fire Campaign which installed its 2 millionth free smoke alarm last year. In Pennsylvania, the Red Cross recently installed its 100,000th free lifesaving smoke alarm, further protecting the people of our state. The American Red Cross continues to provide lifesaving work to our friends and neighbors across our state and throughout our nation. Please join me in honoring and thanking these local heroes for all the great work they have done, and will continue to do, for us. |
