Subject: | Recognizing the friendship and bilateral relationship between the Commonwealth |
In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution that recognizes the enhanced friendship and bilateral relationship between the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and Taiwan, and congratulating President Dr. Tsai, Ing-Wen on her re-election. For over half a century, Taiwan has worked to establish itself as a strong and successful model of democracy and remains a bright beacon of democracy in Asia and across the world. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania established a trade and investment office in 2005, and since that time we have exported hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of local products that include chemicals, electronics, and machinery, making Taiwan one of the largest foreign markets for our state. Pennsylvania has maintained a friendly sister-state relationship with Taiwan for many years and that relationship continues to get stronger. Please join me in recognizing this important partnership. |
