Subject: | Suspending the collection of sales tax and personal income tax during the declaration of disaster emergency |
In these unprecedented times, constituents all across the Commonwealth have been adversely impacted by the Governor's declaration of an emergency and the implementation of statewide protective measures to mitigate the spread of COVD-19. While access to loans is helpful, it is much more important to reduce the costs for our constituents to allow all to have the financial wherewithal to recover as soon as possible after the emergency has passed. Actions taken now will determine how long the lingering effects of this emergency will be felt in our communities and our economy. In an effort to ease financial burdens and increase the purchasing power of Pennsylvania taxpayers, we plan to introduce legislation that will suspend the imposition of and collection of sales tax and personal income tax until the disaster declaration is lifted. Please join us in co-sponsoring this important piece of legislation. |
