Subject: | Truck Driver Appreciation Day - October 4, 2020 |
In the near future I will be introducing a resolution to recognize October 4, 2020 as “Truck Driver Appreciation Day” in Pennsylvania. During these challenging times, It is important to acknowledge those individuals who keep our world running smoothly and to extend our sincere appreciation for their dedication. While many are being encouraged to self-quarantine at home with their families, there are those who leave their homes and risk exposure to the coronavirus in order to deliver life-sustaining supplies to every home, business, and community in the Commonwealth. Despite the significant additional hardships of closed restaurants and rest areas, professional truck drivers are working longer hours to guarantee that the shelves of our local supermarkets continue to be stocked. Just as importantly, they are ensuring that hospitals and clinics are receiving the blood, medicine, and diagnostic equipment necessary to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and to treat those citizens who have been hospitalized as a result of the virus. Through their dedicated service, professional truck drivers have shown themselves to be the lifeblood of our Commonwealth's economy. Please join me in sponsoring this resolution to honor the hard-working men and women who have tackled one of our economy's most demanding and critical jobs while facing unprecedented circumstances during the COVID-19 pandemic. |
