Subject: Co-Sponsor: Access to Pediatric Services during COVID-19 Pandemic
 
In the very near future, I will be introducing legislation that would provide for an extension of waiver provisions for pediatric services. This includes all pediatricians and pediatric specialists, including pediatric dentists, therapists, trauma specialists, and psychiatrists, that can adhere to social distancing practices and other mitigation measures defined by the CDC.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, child abuse reporting is down 50% in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Health care providers are the #2 reporters of child abuse.

By extending a waiver to allow these pediatric health care providers and specialists to re-open, we are getting more eyes on our children and, in turn, Pennsylvania’s children will be not only healthier but safer.
