House of Representatives
Session of 2019 - 2020 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: May 15, 2020 04:36 PM
From: Representative Parke Wentling and Rep. Gary Day
To: All House members
Subject: Resolution Designating the Week of May 10-16, 2020 as "National Skilled Nursing Care Week" in Pennsylvania

In the very near future, we plan on introducing a resolution designating May 10-16, 2020 as “National Skilled Nursing Care Week” (formerly National Nursing Home Week) in Pennsylvania.  This is part of a nation-wide effort led by the American Healthcare Association since 1967.

This year, while it is more important than ever to celebrate National Skilled Nursing Care Week and recognize the staff and residents in our skilled nursing care centers across the nation, it is a challenge to figure out how best to do so.  Current social distancing rules and the inability of friends and family to enter the buildings has changed much of the day to day life of the staff and residents.  One thing is certain, though, and that is that staff are playing a critical role in caring for residents and saving lives, and that deserves to be honored and celebrated.

We would greatly appreciate your support of this resolution.  Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
