Subject: | Authorizing Pennsylvania to Join the Physical Therapist Compact |
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation which would authorize the Commonwealth to join the Physical Therapist Compact (PTC). To date, 23 states have adopted legislation to join the PTC, which recognizes mutual agreement in the requirements and licensure of physical therapists and reciprocity of license transfer between member states. In 2016, Governor Wolf signed Act 112 into law which authorized the Commonwealth to join the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC). Similar to the PTC, the IMLC recognizes mutual agreement in the requirements for physician licensing, and provides the benefit of easier transfer of licenses from states within the compact. Having one of the highest concentrations of older populations in the country, we need to continue to ensure that we foster the right opportunities for continued growth to meet the demands of those working in the health care industry. I invite you to join me in co-sponsoring this important legislation. |
