Subject: | Family and Caregiver COVID Employee Protections |
Pennsylvania’s essential workers and their families have been the backbone of our economy during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many such workers may fear for the health and safety of loved ones, but they could potentially face retaliation from employers for taking time off to care for a sick family member. We must ensure these workers can feel safe should they need to take leave to care for those in need. Workers deserve fairness and a safe workplace. In addition, the health of their family is a priority. That is why I plan to introduce legislation that protects employees from retaliation, such as termination or loss of benefits, should they need to take leave from work to care for a loved one that has tested positive for COVID-19, or care for children that are unable to attend school due to the pandemic. As public servants, we have a duty to protect the hard-working families of our Commonwealth. Please join me in fighting for the health and safety of our workers by co-sponsoring this legislation. They deserve our utmost attention during these difficult times. |
