Session of 2021 - 2022 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 21, 2021 03:47 PM
From: Representative Barry J. Jozwiak
To: All House members
Subject: Repealing the Obsolete Pennsylvania Crime Commission Act

I will be re-introducing House Bill 1832 to repeal Act 169 of 1978, the Pennsylvania Crime Commission Act. The act is now obsolete.

The Pennsylvania Crime Commission was established to inquire into organized crime and public corruption and to issue an annual report on the status of organized crime in the Commonwealth. The commission was eliminated through Act 84 of 1993. Its ongoing investigations were transferred to the Pennsylvania State Police.

The former Pennsylvania Crime Commission is unrelated to the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, which was created under a different statute and for a separate purpose.

Please consider cosponsoring this important legislation.

Introduced as HB934
