Subject: | Property Tax Circuit Breakers |
In the near future, I will introduce legislation that would amend Pennsylvania’s Constitution to allow for property tax circuit breakers in Pennsylvania. Property tax “circuit breakers” are really quite simple, it protects taxpayers from a property tax “overload” just like an electric circuit breaker. Specifically, my legislation will allow the General Assembly to establish standards and qualifications to exempt a taxpayer from the payment of the portion of real property tax levied by a local taxing authority that exceeds a percentage threshold amount of the household income of the taxpayer. Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation, as I firmly believe that this proposal will offer Pennsylvania’s citizens much needed property tax relief. |
Introduced as HB1851
