Subject: | Higher Education Promotion Task Force |
With Pennsylvania having one of the highest number of higher education institutions of any state, I will soon introduce legislation that will establish a Higher Education Promotion Task Force to enable better utilization of this great infrastructure asset. The higher education “industry” provides good-paying jobs with benefits and generates hundreds of millions of dollars in economic benefits to communities where they operate. This task force would be staffed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and meet at least six times a year in order to produce an annual report of Pennsylvania’s higher education industry about its financial and tourism benefits to the Commonwealth. It would study an array of issues to ensure that Pennsylvania’s institutions remain competitive as the higher education enrollee pool shrinks. Task force members would include legislators, state officials, and stakeholders. Please consider co-sponsoring this legislation. |
