True public servants never seek out recognition or praise. Rather, they consistently place service above self and the needs of their community before the needs of their own. Nevertheless, it is important that we – as the voice of the people – provide public servants the acknowledgement they never sought themselves. Representative Robert W. Godshall embodied what it means to serve the public good. Born in Montgomery County in 1933, Robert W. Godshall served his local community for decades as a board member of the Souderton Area School, as the controller of Montgomery County, and as the representative for the 53rd Legislative District for eighteen consecutive terms. As a legislator, Robert W. Godshall was an advocate for countless issues, including healthcare and tourism. His commitment to his position earned him the respect of many in his community and across this great state. Robert W. Godshall was a true public servant. In honor of his service to the people of Montgomery County and Pennsylvania, I plan to introduce legislation designating a stretch of highway in Montgomery County as the Honorable Robert W. Godshall Memorial Highway. Please join me in memorializing Robert W. Godshall for his many accomplishments. |
