Subject: Exempt Non-Profit Cemetery Associations from Needing a Registration Certificate
 
In the near future, I will introduce legislation to exempt non-profit cemetery associations from needing a registration certificate issued by the State Real Estate Commission to conduct operations−the same exemption currently provided to cemeteries controlled by a bona fide church, religious congregation, fraternal organization, or an association controlled by a bona fide church, religious congregation, or fraternal organization. This bill will address an oversight in state law that unfairly targets certain small cemetery associations, many of which have been operating without problems for more than two centuries.
