MEMORANDUM

Posted: October 21, 2021 09:56 AM
From: Representative Matthew D. Dowling
To: All House members
Subject: Representative Larry Roberts Interchange

It is my intention to introduce legislation to designate the Interchange of US 119 and Main Street, Uniontown, Fayette County to be named the “Representative Larry Roberts Interchange.”

Lawrence (Larry) Roberts was first elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives 51st Legislative District in 1991 and served until he retired in 2006.  He served on House Transportation and Economic Development Committees for 14 years.

While serving the 51st Legislative District, Larry sponsored legislation to create Regional Economic Development Districts.  After the completion of Route 43 (Mon-Fayette Expressway), the Turnpike Commission named Route 43 as the number one Regional Economic Development project.  He was also instrumental in the completion of the George C. Marshall Parkway (Uniontown Bypass) and the Route 40 bridge over the Youghiogheny River Lake.

In addition to serving in the United State Air Force for 23 years, Larry has received the Expeditionary Award, Outstanding Unit Award, 3 Good Conduct Medals, Marksmanship Medal, NATO Service Medal and Longevity Medal.  He was an active member within his community and is a member of the National Academy of Arbitrators, American Arbitration Association, Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, National Mediation Board, Pennsylvania Bureau of Mediation, Industrial Relations Research Association, Society of Professionals in Dispute Resolution, Society of Federal Labor Relations Professionals and the Labor Employees Relations Association.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation.
