Subject: | Natural Immunity |
In the near future I will be introducing legislation to enable workers who possess natural immunity to COVID-19 be exempt from employer-mandated vaccine requirements if they choose to disclose testing confirmation to their employer. The goal of the vaccine is to generate antibodies, so citizens who already possess antibodies should not face termination if they are hesitant to take the synthetic vaccination. Employer-mandated COVID-19 vaccine requirements have been the focus of much public debate. Like many others, my office has received countless calls and emails from individuals who are concerned about losing their job because of policies mandating the COVID-19 vaccine. Many of these individuals worked tirelessly through the heart of the pandemic- before a vaccine ever existed. They contracted COVID, recovered and now possess the natural antibodies but are facing an employment ultimatum to receive a shot intended to create something they already have. Particularly, as the medical community recognizes the vaccine is not completely effective against newer strains and has recognized side effects on a portion of citizens who receive the shot. My legislation will enable employees and prospective employees to be exempted from an employer-required COVID-19 vaccine if they can provide proof of COVID-19 infection and/or possession of COVID-19 antibodies from within the past 90 days. Employees and prospective employees who are initially granted an exemption under this act, but are unable to prove continued natural immunity, will have 30 days to seek an alternative exemption or comply with an employer’s COVID-19 vaccine requirement. The legislation will expire at the end of 2027, at which point the need for this exemption can be reevaluated. Workers who were previously infected with COVID-19 and/or possess COVID-19 antibodies need the legislature to act and protect their livelihoods. This legislation is a sensible alternative to sweeping mandates and terminations in the face of an existing worker shortage. Please join me in acknowledging natural COVID-19 antibodies as a 90-day exemption to employer-mandated vaccinations. |
