MEMORANDUM

Posted: February 24, 2022 01:40 PM
From: Representative Melissa L. Shusterman
To: All House members
Subject: Concurrent Resolution - "AmeriCorps Week" in Pennsylvania - March 13, 2022 through March 19, 2022.

Since its inception in 1964, AmeriCorps has attracted citizens of all ages and backgrounds in bolstering their communities through the tenet of service and volunteerism. In the Commonwealth alone, over 11,000 individuals are carrying out this important work. For the service they provide, they deserve our thanks and recognition.

This concurrent resolution honors the AmeriCorps members and volunteers who selflessly work to make lives better, improve the environment, promote public safety, and strengthen our educational systems. By designating March 13, 2022, through March 19, 2022, as “AmeriCorps Week” in the Commonwealth, we note the important work done by this national service program which extends financial support to community groups, businesses, schools, and nonprofits, growing stronger and healthier communities.

Past and present AmeriCorps members and volunteers have made a powerful impact on lives and communities across Pennsylvania and the nation. Their continued service is critical to the well-being of our citizens and their neighborhoods. I hope you will join me in recognizing AmeriCorps members and volunteers for their dedicated service.
