Subject: | Max Manufacturing Initiative Act |
In the near future I will be reintroducing SB900 of last session. The Max Manufacturing Initiative Act utilizes Pennsylvania’s abundant natural gas resources and establishes public-private partnerships between private entities and our state-related universities. This legislation maximizes the research capabilities of our State-related institutions while also promoting stronger business alliances and increasing employment opportunities. Focusing on infrastructure and innovation, these partnerships will develop programs to fund shared research facilities and equipment and create incentives to attract high-technology industries for advanced manufacturing within in the Commonwealth. Further, by establishing the Keystone Energy Zone Program, this legislation also designates a special taxing district that encourages development within these zones in order to incentivize research and manufacturing that benefit from proximity to natural gas sources. The Max Manufacturing Initiative Act has the potential to establish Pennsylvania and its university and business partnerships as international leaders in the development, testing and implementation of cutting-edge advances in science and technology. Please join me in co-sponsoring this important piece of legislation. If you have any questions, please contact Elizabeth Weitzel in my office at 717-787-5839 |
