Subject: | Recognizing Local Government Day and Week in Pennsylvania |
Recognizing Local Government Day and Week in Pennsylvania As Chairmen of the Senate Local Government Committee, we will be introducing a resolution recognizing April 14, 2019, as "Local Government Day" and April 11 through 18, 2021, as "Local Government Week" in the Commonwealth. Pennsylvania is home to a multitude of local government entities staffed by dedicated individuals who provide services that are essential to the daily lives of our constituents. As the units of government closest to the people, local governments are the "backbone" of our democratic system of governance in the Commonwealth. This dedication was shown no better than over the past year during the COVID-19 pandemic. Please join us in showing appreciation for our local governments, their officials, employees, and many volunteers who work hard to provide effective representation and services to their residents. |
