Subject: | Resolution Designating September 2021 as Suicide Prevention Awareness Month in Pennsylvania |
Please join me in introducing a resolution designating September 2021 as “Suicide Prevention Awareness Month” in Pennsylvania. Suicide is the second leading cause of death for young people ranging from ages 15 to 24. As we continue to emerge out of the pandemic of 2020, health concerns, economic impacts and social restrictions have had profound effects on the mental health of many residents living in our communities. It is my hope to continue to educate, support and make available the resources to those whose lives have been affected by suicide and mental health issues. I am honored to be working with the Jana Marie Foundation located in my district that focuses on promoting mental well-being among young people in the Centre County Region. I join in their belief that conversations and community support will offer resilience and hope to those affected by mental health struggles. We all play a vital role in preventing suicide. Please join me in co-sponsoring this important resolution. |
