Subject: | National Disability Employment Awareness Month |
In the near future, I intend to introduce a resolution recognizing October 2021 as National Disability Employment Awareness Month in Pennsylvania. Millions of Americans live with disabilities each day, and many others will become disabled at some point in their lives. 30 years after the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act, individuals with disabilities, including veterans, are making immeasurable contributions to the workforce. Every year, a theme is chosen for National Disability Employment Awareness Month. This year’s theme is “America’s Recovery: Powered by Inclusion.” The theme was selected by the United States Department of Labor's Office of Disability Employment Policy to emphasize that people with disabilities have full access to employment and community involvement during the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. By designating October 2021 as National Disability Employment Awareness Month, we enable all Pennsylvanians to recognize the contributions of Pennsylvanians with disabilities and encourage all citizens to ensure such individuals are afforded equal opportunities in the workplace. Please join me in co-sponsoring this important resolution. |
