Subject: | PA Game Commission Region Reform |
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that would expand the Pennsylvania Board of Game Commissioner seats from eight to nine, thus adding a District. District 9 comprises six counties. The new district would include Schuylkill, Berks, Northampton, and Lehigh counties from District 8 and Carbon and Monroe counties from District 7. While these counties are different, they share similar geographical features and similar wildlife habitats. This legislation will allow rural areas the ability to better manage their wildlife for conservation and recreation. The landscape and wildlife problems in Philadelphia county are vastly different than the issues faced in northern Berks county. These differences warrant a need to have separate representation when it comes to decisions regarding wildlife during meetings of the Pennsylvania Game Commission. Please join me in supporting this important legislation. |
