Subject: | Pennsylvania’s Summer Gas Tax Holiday – Independence Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend |
Soon, I will be introducing legislation to temporarily waive the State’s $0.576/gallon Liquid Fuels Tax (commonly known as the Gas Tax) from Independence Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend - a period of 67 days. It is beyond time that we provide relief to all Pennsylvania families who are bearing the brunt of cost increases at the gas pump. This financial strain left unchecked, will mean less spending during a season that usually sees the highest rate of tourism/travel across the Commonwealth. A temporary halt to the Gas Tax will provide immediate relief to families this Summer. My legislation will utilize ARPA funds and PennDOT bonds to cover the difference in Liquid Fuels dollars to ensure no funding is lost for our obligation to the State Police and ongoing infrastructure projects. With these surplus dollars, there is no better investment than putting that money back into the pockets of Pennsylvanians. |
