Subject: Corporal Frank Sworden Memorial Bridge
 
In the near future, I intend to introduce legislation designating a bridge on the border of Washington City and Canton Township, Washington County, as the Corporal Frank Sworden Memorial Bridge.
 
Frank was born in Washington County and served in the Army.   During his service in World War II, Army Corporal Sworden was reported missing and ultimately declared dead on April 17, 1943. Corporal Frank J. Sworden is buried or memorialized at Tablets of the Missing North Africa American Cemetery Carthage, Tunisia.  Corporal Sworden received the Purple Heart and the American Legion Gold Star Citation.
