Subject: Celebrating St. Patrick's Day
 
We plan to introduce a Resolution that will commemorate Saint Patrick’s Day and the strong bond between the United States and Ireland. 2023 marks the 175th anniversary of the first flying of the Irish flag in the United States by Thomas F. Meagher. Meagher was a brigadier general in the famous “Fighting Irish Brigade” of the 69th regiment during the Civil War, and later became the governor of Montana.

2023 also marks the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement.

Every year, Irish-Americans and people of all ethnic origins celebrate the feast of Saint Patrick- enjoying time with family and friends. I hope you will join us in sponsoring this resolution which recognizes and honors the friendship of our nation and Ireland.
