Subject: Private First Class John Balog Memorial Bridge Naming
 
In the near future, I will introduce legislation to honor PFC John Balog.

The bill will designate the bridge carrying U.S. Route 40 over Pennsylvania Route 43 in Redstone Township, Fayette County, as the PFC John Balog Memorial Bridge.

Private First Class Balog served in the Korean War with H Company, Second Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division in the United States Army. On September 6, 1950, PFC Balog was defending his rifle team’s position near Am-Sim, South Korea, but was ambushed and killed by enemy fire.

For his service to the United States, PFC Balog was awarded numerous medals, the most prestigious among them being the Silver Star and the Purple Heart.
