Subject: Prohibiting Legislative Plagiarism
 
In the near future, I plan to introduce a Resolution to amend the General Operating Rules of the House of Representatives to prohibit “Legislative Plagiarism”.

 “Legislative Plagiarism” shall mean the practice of introducing legislation that is identical in form and substance to legislation that was previously introduced by another sitting member of the House in the same legislative session or in the immediately prior legislative session without written permission.

 Often, both members and staff put an incredible amount of hard work and time in crafting legislation, and they should be able to see that through if they wish.

Please join me in sponsoring this resolution that will help improve legislative integrity and foster cooperation during this session.
