MEMORANDUM

Posted: September 8, 2023 11:32 AM
From: Representative Leanne Krueger
To: All House members
Subject: Co-Sponsorship: Resolution designating October 6, 2023, as College Radio Day in Pennsylvania.

Each year, hundreds of student radio stations partner with the goal of harnessing the combined listenership of hundreds of thousands of college radio listeners throughout the world to celebrate the need for the college radio broadcasting medium. College Radio Day, in conjunction with the World College Radio Day, endeavors to unite college radio stations from more than fifty countries to raise awareness of the value these stations bring to college and university broadcasting and the communities they serve.

Located in my Legislative District, Neumann University’s channel 98.5 WNUW will celebrate its 10th anniversary of participating in College Radio Day. The theme for this year will be Where All Voices Are Welcome. College radio stations prepare students for successful citizenship through charity work and aids in fostering careers in broadcasting by ushering in professionals dedicated to this important work.

With that said, I will be introducing a Resolution that designates October 6, 2023, as College Radio Day in Pennsylvania in conjunction with the World College Radio Day to highlight the work of our amateur student operators including those volunteering at college radio stations like Neumann University and other colleges and universities throughout our great Commonwealth.

To that end, I encourage you to please join me in co-sponsoring this Resolution. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Takesha Latham in my Harrisburg Office via email at tlatham@pahouse.net.
