MEMORANDUM

Posted: September 19, 2023 02:59 PM
From: Representative Ryan E. Mackenzie
To: All House members
Subject: October 2023 as Careers in Construction Month

In the near future, I will be introducing a resolution recognizing the Month of October 2023, as “Careers in Construction Month” in Pennsylvania. My goal is to create positive perceptions of the many careers in the construction industry so that our future workers are aware of the many paths available so that they may have rewarding careers. There are many opportunities for individuals to enter the construction workforce, resulting in rewarding careers that the whole community can appreciate.

“Careers in Construction Month” raises awareness of the importance and value of construction workers and is an opportunity to raise awareness of the opportunities in the construction industry. A recent study found that less than 30% of parents would recommend construction as a career of choice and for the past 7 years, construction skilled trades have been some of the hardest jobs to fill for employers.

Please join me in celebrating and bringing awareness to the valuable work that construction workers do and the many opportunities that are available for those who seek to enter the construction workforce.
