A RESOLUTION
Recognizing January 17, 2017, as the birthday of Benjamin
Franklin.
WHEREAS, We celebrate the life of Benjamin Franklin, past
Chief Clerk and Speaker of the Pennsylvania House of
Representatives; and
WHEREAS, Benjamin Franklin became famous as a scientist, an
inventor, a statesman, a printer, a philosopher, a musician and
a philanthropist through his work for the betterment of
Philadelphia, the Commonwealth and the United States; and
WHEREAS, Franklin had a strong belief that good citizenship
included an obligation of public service; and
WHEREAS, In addition to signing the five founding documents
of the United States, Franklin also helped in drafting two of
these momentous documents, the Declaration of Independence and
the Constitution of the United States; and
