        REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON RULES, JANUARY 31, 2001

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Directing the Professional Licensure Committee to conduct
     2     hearings relating to the shortage of health care
     3     professionals in Pennsylvania.

     4     WHEREAS, This Commonwealth is experiencing a critical
     5  shortage of licensed health care professionals and other health
     6  care practitioners; and
     7     WHEREAS, The shortage of licensed health care professionals
     8  and other health care practitioners has restricted patient
     9  access to urgently needed health care services; and
    10     WHEREAS, An unabated shortage of licensed health care
    11  professionals and other health care practitioners will continue
    12  to have a severe adverse impact on the safety, health and
    13  welfare of the citizens of this Commonwealth; therefore be it
    14     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives direct the
    15  Professional Licensure Committee to conduct public hearings

     1  relating to the shortage of licensed health care professionals
     2  and other health care practitioners; and be it further
     3     RESOLVED, That the committee may hold hearings, take
     4  testimony and make its investigations at such places as it deems
     5  necessary in this Commonwealth, and each member of the committee
     6  shall have power to administer oaths and affirmations to
     7  witnesses appearing before the committee; and be it further
     8     RESOLVED, That the committee shall report to the House of
     9  Representatives on its activities, findings and recommendations.
