        AS AMENDED, HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, FEBRUARY 13, 2001

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Directing the Professional Licensure Committee to conduct
     2     hearings relating to the shortage of health care
     3     professionals in Pennsylvania AND TO REPORT TO THE HOUSE OF    <--
     4     REPRESENTATIVES ON THE FINDINGS.

     5     WHEREAS, This Commonwealth is experiencing a critical
     6  shortage of licensed health care professionals and other health
     7  care practitioners; and
     8     WHEREAS, The shortage of licensed health care professionals
     9  and other health care practitioners IN SOME AREAS has restricted  <--
    10  patient access to urgently needed health care services; and
    11     WHEREAS, An unabated shortage of licensed health care
    12  professionals and other health care practitioners will continue
    13  to have a severe adverse impact on the safety, health and


     1  welfare of the citizens of this Commonwealth; therefore be it
     2     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives direct the
     3  Professional Licensure Committee to conduct public hearings
     4  relating to the shortage of licensed health care professionals
     5  and other health care practitioners; and be it further
     6     RESOLVED, That the committee may hold hearings, take
     7  testimony and make its investigations at such places as it deems
     8  necessary in this Commonwealth, and each member of the committee
     9  shall have power to administer oaths and affirmations to
    10  witnesses appearing before the committee; and be it further
    11     RESOLVED, That the committee shall report to the House of
    12  Representatives on its activities, findings and recommendations.
