A RESOLUTION
Honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
WHEREAS, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., is widely regarded as
one of the greatest leaders in modern world history; and
WHEREAS, Dr. King's nonviolent and peaceful teachings led the
way to racial equality in America during the 1950s, 1960s and
beyond; and
WHEREAS, Dr. King's speeches and lectures remain some of the
most revered orations ever rendered in the English language; and
WHEREAS, Under Dr. King's vision, the seeds of racism,
discrimination, bigotry and prejudice would be replaced by an
all-inclusive spirit of sisterhood and brotherhood; and
WHEREAS, Dr. King's teachings and principles have been taught
and embraced by successive generations and studied extensively
by scholars all across the world; and

WHEREAS, Dr. King's teachings and principles will remain
firmly ensconced in the annals of history; and
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus would like
to formally honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King,
Jr.; and
WHEREAS, As a testament to Dr. King's vision, since 1973 the
Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus has proudly assumed the
role of serving as an advocacy vehicle to advance the interests
of all people of color in this Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus strives to
dutifully represent the social needs of people of color in this
Commonwealth by speaking as a united voice regarding the issues
and concerns most deeply affecting people of color; and
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus solemnly
pledges to continue to foster and advance the dream, vision and
principles of Dr. King; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives, on behalf of the
Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus, honor the life and legacy
of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
