A RESOLUTION
1 Urging the City Council of Pittsburgh to name a bridge and
2 walkway in the city the Charles J. Lieberth Bridge and
3 Walkway.
4 WHEREAS, In Pittsburgh, a bridge and walkway over Route 28,
5 from Troy Hill Road to the Sarah Heinz House, was built at the
6 expense of the Commonwealth and transferred to the City of
7 Pittsburgh; and
8 WHEREAS, This bridge and walkway has not yet been named; and
9 WHEREAS, Charles J. Lieberth is and has been a distinguished
10 resident of the area neighborhood where the bridge and walkway
11 is located; and
12 WHEREAS, Charles J. Lieberth was appointed a member of the
13 Pennsylvania Civil Service Commission July 22, 1991, was
14 reconfirmed on July 12, 1996, and was named Chairman, effective
15 July 6, 1998; and
16 WHEREAS, Charles J. Lieberth is a Veteran of World War II,
17 having served in the original cadre of the famed 505th Parachute
18 Infantry, 82nd Airborne in North Africa, Sicily, Italy and
1 Normandy D-Day campaigns and the recipient of numerous military
2 decorations and awards; and
3 WHEREAS, Charles J. Lieberth has held various Federal, State
4 and local offices; therefore be it
5 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge the City
6 Council of Pittsburgh to name the bridge and walkway over Route
7 28, from Troy Hill Road to the Sarah Heinz House, in the City of
8 Pittsburgh the Charles J. Lieberth Bridge and Walkway.
