A RESOLUTION
Urging the Department of Education to contract with an
independent third party to determine the economic impact of
universal full-day kindergarten.
WHEREAS, School boards in this Commonwealth are authorized,
but are not mandated, to establish kindergarten programs for
children between four and six years of age; and
WHEREAS, An estimated 49,339 children five years of age are
not currently enrolled in school; and
WHEREAS, An estimated 20,000 children in Pennsylvania served
by publicly funded prekindergarten programs do not have access
to free, full-day kindergarten; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge the
Department of Education to contract with an independent third
party to determine the economic impact of universal full-day
kindergarten; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the study include, but not be limited to, the
