                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania
     2     Consolidated Statutes, further regulating the carrying of
     3     loaded firearms in a vehicle; and making a technical change.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Title 18 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     7  Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
     8  § 6106.1.  Carrying loaded firearms.
     9     (a)  General rule.--No person shall carry a loaded pistol,
    10  revolver, shotgun or rifle, regardless of barrel length, in any
    11  vehicle.
    12     (b)  Exceptions.--The provisions of subsection (a) shall not
    13  apply to:
    14         (1)  Persons licensed to carry firearms under section
    15     6109 (relating to licenses).
    16         (2)  Persons excepted from the requirement of a license
    17     to carry firearms under section 6106(b)(1), (2), (5) or (6)
    18     (relating to firearms not to be carried without a license).

     1     (c)  Penalty.--A person who violates the provisions of this
     2  section commits a summary offense.
     3     Section 2.  Section 6119 of Title 18 is amended to read:
     4  § 6119.  Violation penalty.
     5     [An] Except as otherwise specifically provided, an offense
     6  under this [section] subchapter constitutes a misdemeanor of the
     7  first degree.
     8     Section 3.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
