A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1 Urging all local educational agencies to provide regular daily 2 opportunities in physical education for students in 3 kindergarten through grade 12. 4 WHEREAS, Physical education is crucial to enhancing a growing 5 child's physical development; and 6 WHEREAS, Physical education assists in improving the general 7 health of a child by an increase in cardiovascular endurance, 8 muscular strength and power, flexibility, weight regulation, 9 better bone development, improved posture and skillful moving; 10 and 11 WHEREAS, Physical education can provide sports, games and 12 other physical activities that promote self-confidence and the 13 ability to work in a group; and 14 WHEREAS, Physical education promotes an understanding of the 15 relationship between regular physical activity and health; and 16 WHEREAS, Physical education can develop desirable 17 competencies for participation in sports which are lifetime in
1 nature; and 2 WHEREAS, Children who participate in physical education on a 3 regular daily basis tend to be more healthy and physically fit; 4 therefore be it 5 RESOLVED (the Senate concurring), That the General Assembly 6 urge all local educational agencies in the Commonwealth of 7 Pennsylvania to provide students in kindergarten through grade 8 12 with regular daily opportunities for physical education.
