A RESOLUTION 1 Observing the week of April 23, 2001, as "Crime Victims' Rights 2 Week." 3 WHEREAS, Each year 9.9 million Americans are victims of 4 violent crime; and 5 WHEREAS, Crime victims play an indispensable role in bringing 6 offenders to justice; and 7 WHEREAS, Crime victims and their advocates over the past two 8 decades have made unparalleled progress toward balancing the 9 scales of justice in our criminal justice system; and 10 WHEREAS, America must increase its efforts to protect, 11 restore and expand crime victims' rights; and 12 WHEREAS, The Coalition of Pennsylvania Crime Victims' 13 Organizations is sponsoring a rally on April 23, 2001, to 14 commemorate "National Crime Victims' Rights Week"; therefore be
1 it 2 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives observe the week 3 of April 23, 2001, as "Crime Victims' Rights Week" in this 4 Commonwealth; and be it further 5 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives reaffirm a 6 commitment to address victims' rights and criminal justice 7 issues throughout the year.
