A RESOLUTION
Urging the United States Department of Health and Human Services
to increase the allocation of COVID-19 vaccine doses sent to
the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, On March 6, 2020, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
confirmed its first two cases of the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV2
(COVID-19); and
WHEREAS, At the beginning of the pandemic, the Commonwealth
of Pennsylvania experienced some of the worst outbreaks of
COVID-19 in the nation, which led Governor Tom Wolf to issue a
proclamation of disaster emergency on March 6, 2020; and
WHEREAS, As of March 6, 2021, the Department of Health
reported that the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania had 946,985 total
cases of COVID-19 and that 24,317 residents had died from COVID-
19; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the pandemic, the Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania has followed guidelines from the Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention in its efforts to mitigate the

risks posed by COVID-19; and
WHEREAS, Hospitals in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania began
receiving shipments of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine the week of
December 14, 2020, Moderna COVID-19 vaccine the week of December
21, 2020, and Janssen COVID-19 vaccine the week of March 1,
2021; and
WHEREAS, As of March 6, 2021, the Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania had administered over 2.9 million COVID-19 vaccine
doses, including 90% of its allocated first/single COVID-19
doses; and
WHEREAS, The vaccines for COVID-19 are a critical tool in
helping to stop the pandemic; and
WHEREAS, The current supply of COVID-19 vaccine doses the
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is receiving from the Federal
Government does not meet the Commonwealth's demand and is
insufficient to vaccinate even those individuals who are
currently eligible; and
WHEREAS, The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania requires additional
COVID-19 vaccine doses from the Federal Government to meet
demand and to ensure the health, safety and welfare of its
residents; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania urge the United States Department
of Health and Human Services to increase the allocation of
COVID-19 vaccine doses sent to the Commonwealth; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge residents of
the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to continue their vigilance in
combating the COVID-19 pandemic by following guidelines from the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
the President of the United States, the presiding officers of
each house of Congress and each member of Congress from
Pennsylvania.
