                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Titles 24 (Education) and 71 (State Government) of the
     2     Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, extending the period of
     3     eligibility for special early retirement.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Section 8312 introductory paragraph and (4) of
     7  Title 24 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes are amended
     8  to read:
     9  § 8312.  Eligibility for special early retirement.
    10     Notwithstanding any provisions of this title to the contrary,
    11  for the period only of July 1, 1985, to July 1, [1997] 2001, the
    12  following special early retirement provisions shall be
    13  applicable to specified eligible members as follows:
    14         * * *
    15         (4)  During the period of July 1, 1993, to July 1, [1997]
    16     2001, a member who has credit for at least 30 eligibility
    17     points shall be entitled, upon termination of service and


     1     filing of a proper application, to receive a maximum single
     2     life annuity calculated pursuant to section 8342 without any
     3     reduction by virtue of an effective date of retirement which
     4     is under the superannuation age.
     5     Section 2.  Section 5308.1(4) of Title 71 is amended to read:
     6  § 5308.1.  Eligibility for special early retirement.
     7     Notwithstanding any provisions of this title to the contrary,
     8  the following special early retirement provisions shall be
     9  applicable to specified eligible members as follows:
    10     * * *
    11         (4)  During the period of July 1, 1993, to July 1, [1997]
    12     2001, a member who has credit for at least 30 eligibility
    13     points shall be entitled, upon termination of service and
    14     filing of a proper application, to receive a maximum single
    15     life annuity calculated pursuant to section 5702 without any
    16     reduction by virtue of an effective date of retirement which
    17     is under the superannuation age.
    18     Section 3.  This act shall take effect immediately.
