        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           MARCH 23, 1999

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Commemorating the 125th Anniversary of the Borough of
     2     Sellersville.

     3     WHEREAS, Sellersville, settled before the American
     4  Revolution, grew up and around what for many years was referred
     5  to as Sellers' Tavern, named after Samuel Sellers, an early
     6  inhabitant of the area, successful businessman and civic leader
     7  and founder of the borough; and
     8     WHEREAS, The first stage line through what is now
     9  Sellersville was established in 1742; and
    10     WHEREAS, In 1856 Sellersville, a town of 600, grew rapidly
    11  when rail service was brought to the town; its population and
    12  wealth increased markedly when it was incorporated as a borough
    13  in 1874; and
    14     WHEREAS, Today Sellersville, on the main line between the
    15  Lehigh Valley and Philadelphia, is home to industries that serve
    16  not just Pennsylvania, but the world; and
    17     WHEREAS, Its panoramic park and outstanding playground


     1  program make Sellersville a picturesque residential community;
     2  therefore be it
     3     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives commemorate the
     4  125th Anniversary of the incorporation of the Borough of
     5  Sellersville and wish its residents well as they celebrate this
     6  historic event.
