                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Urging the use of American-made steel in the construction of
     2     sports stadiums and convention centers from redevelopment
     3     capital project funding.

     4     WHEREAS, The General Assembly has enacted legislation that
     5  provides for funding for construction of baseball and football
     6  stadiums for professional teams in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh
     7  and for construction of a new convention center in Pittsburgh;
     8  and
     9     WHEREAS, The steel industry in the United States is a vital
    10  and essential industry in promoting the present and future
    11  economic security of this Commonwealth and nation; and
    12     WHEREAS, The steel industry in the United States provides
    13  well-paying jobs to workers and economic development potential

     1  for the benefit of the communities and citizens of this
     2  Commonwealth; and
     3     WHEREAS, The Commonwealth should endeavor to promote the
     4  economic viability and growth of the steel industry in this
     5  Commonwealth and nation; therefore be it
     6     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge the entities
     7  responsible for the construction of baseball and football
     8  stadiums for professional teams in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh
     9  and for construction of a new convention center in Pittsburgh to
    10  use only American-made steel in the construction of these
    11  facilities and to whenever possible use materials, products and
    12  services from Commonwealth businesses.
