AN ACT
Amending Title 35 (Health and Safety) of the Pennsylvania
Consolidated Statutes, in emergency medical services system,
providing for dismissal upon conviction of certain offense.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Title 35 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
ยง 8143 . Dismissal.
Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary,
an emergency medical technician or emergency medical technician
paramedic who is convicted of an offense under section 13(a)(12)
of the act of April 14, 1972 (P.L.233, No.64), known as The
Controlled Substance, Drug, Device and Cosmetic Act, or a
substantially similar offense in another state shall be
summarily dismissed from employment.
Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
