                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of March 28, 1984 (P.L.150, No.28), entitled
     2     "An act relating to the rights of purchasers of defective new
     3     motor vehicles," extending the act to leases of automobiles.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  The definitions of "dealer," "new motor vehicle"
     7  and "purchaser" in section 2 of the act of March 28, 1984
     8  (P.L.150, No.28), known as the Automobile Lemon Law, are amended
     9  to read:
    10  Section 2.  Definitions.
    11     The following words and phrases when used in this act shall
    12  have the meanings given to them in this section unless the
    13  context clearly indicates otherwise:
    14     "Dealer" or "motor vehicle dealer."  A person in the business
    15  of buying, selling, leasing or exchanging vehicles.

     2     "New motor vehicle."  Any new and unused self-propelled,
     3  motorized conveyance driven upon public roads, streets or
     4  highways which is designed to transport not more than 15
     5  persons, which was purchased or leased and is registered in the
     6  Commonwealth and is used, leased or bought for use primarily for
     7  personal, family or household purposes, including a vehicle used
     8  by a manufacturer or dealer as a demonstrator or dealer car
     9  prior to its sale. The term does not include motorcycles, motor
    10  homes or off-road vehicles.

    12     "Purchaser."  A person, or his successors or assigns, who has
    13  obtained possession or ownership of a new motor vehicle by
    14  lease, transfer or purchase or who has entered into an agreement
    15  or contract for the lease or purchase of a new motor vehicle
    16  which is used or bought for use primarily for personal, family
    17  or household purposes.
    18     Section 2.  This act shall apply to leases of automobiles
    19  executed on and after the effective date hereof.
    20     Section 3.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
